Xanthine dehydrogenase의 결함은 xanthinuria를 유발하며, 성인 호흡곤란 증후군(ARDS)에 기여하거나 산소 대사체 의존적 메커니즘을 통해 인플루엔자 감염을 악화시킬 수 있습니다.
