Target Information
Forkhead-box J1 (FOXJ1) is a 421-amino acid transcription factor that suppresses T cell activity and spontaneous autoimmunity through repression of NF-κB activity. It also inhibits the humoral immune response in B cells. FOXJ1 deficiency leads to spontaneous germinal center formation and is implicated in pathogenic autoantibody development. Additionally, FOXJ1 is essential for cilia formation and left-right axis determination, increasing calpastatin expression for basal body anchoring. Its expression may serve as an early marker of epithelial cell differentiation and recovery.
