Target Information
LSm11 is a 360-amino-acid nuclear protein belonging to the LSm subfamily of snRNP Sm proteins. It contains an N-terminal domain essential for pre-mRNA cleavage and binds specifically to U7 snRNA, playing roles in cell cycle regulation and growth.
The gene encoding LSm11 is located on human chromosome 5, which spans approximately 181 million base pairs (~6% of the human genome). Deletion of the p arm of chromosome 5 causes Cri du chat syndrome, while deletion of the q arm or entire chromosome 5 is associated with therapy-related acute myelogenous leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome.
