Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the serpin family of proteins, which inhibit serine proteases such as thrombin, urokinase, plasmin, and trypsin. The SERPINE2 gene is associated with susceptibility to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
