The Human IL-31 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-31 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing you to create your own multiplex panel utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.

When combining multiple Simplex kits (i.e., when not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the principles of a sandwich ELISA, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously on a Luminex instrument.

These assays require as little as:

• 25 μL of plasma or serum, or
• 50 μL of cell culture supernatant

and deliver analyzed results in about four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology to detect and quantify up to 80 protein targets in a single sample. The Luminex beads are internally dyed with red and infrared fluorophores to create unique spectral signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific to a single target protein. Bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). The use of bead-conjugated antibodies allows simultaneous analysis of multiple targets in one well.

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is bead-conjugated and free-floating in solution. Detection instruments like the Luminex 200 use dual lasers—one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify fluorescence intensity proportional to protein concentration. This enables profiling of more targets with less sample volume and time.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available for multiple species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine).
