Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a G-protein-coupled receptor functioning as a prostanoid DP receptor. Its activity is mainly mediated by G-S proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase, leading to increased intracellular cAMP and Ca²⁺ levels. Knockout studies in mice suggest that prostaglandin D₂ (PGD₂), the ligand of this receptor, acts as a mast cell-derived mediator triggering asthmatic responses.
