Target Information
Interferon-induced RNA-binding protein involved in the human innate immune response. Plays a key role in antiviral defense through broad RNA structure recognition. Binds precursor and processed tRNAs as well as poly-U-tailed tRNA fragments (PubMed:25092312, PubMed:23317505, PubMed:23774268). Specifically recognizes single-stranded RNA with a 5′-triphosphate group (PPP-RNA), serving as a sensor of viral RNAs. Distinguishes self from non-self mRNAs by detecting the absence of 2′-O-methylation on viral RNAs. Directly binds PPP-RNA in a non-sequence-specific manner (PubMed:23334420). Also binds AT-rich dsDNA (PubMed:23774268) and positively regulates IKK-NFKB signaling by recruiting IKK to MAP3K7 (PubMed:26334375). [UniProt]
