Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Pyruvate Carboxylase (PC).
Target Information
Pyruvate Carboxylase requires biotin and ATP to catalyze the carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The active enzyme is a homotetramer arranged in a tetrahedron located exclusively in the mitochondrial matrix. It plays essential roles in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion, and neurotransmitter glutamate synthesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with pyruvate carboxylase deficiency.
