Target Information
CaV3.3 encodes the pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated calcium channel and belongs to the low voltage-activated, T-type calcium channel subfamily. This channel exhibits slower activation and inactivation compared to other T-type channels and may play a role in neuronal calcium signaling.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Voltage-gated calcium channels (CaV) mediate calcium influx in excitable cells, regulating processes such as contraction, secretion, neurotransmission, and gene expression.
