Target Information
Proteins containing PDZ domains frequently bind the C-termini of transmembrane receptors or ion channels. They may also interact with other PDZ domain proteins and be involved in intracellular signaling.
The PDZD2 gene encodes a protein with six PDZ domains, sharing similarity with pro-interleukin-16 (pro-IL-16).
Like pro-IL-16, it localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and is cleaved by a caspase to produce a secreted peptide containing two PDZ domains.
PDZD2 expression is upregulated in primary prostate tumors and may be involved in early stages of prostate tumorigenesis.
