IRF1 (Interferon Regulatory Factor 1) encodes a transcription factor belonging to the interferon regulatory (IRF) family.
IRF1 acts as an activator of interferons α and β transcription and is required for double-stranded RNA induction in mouse models.
It functions as a transcription activator for genes induced by interferons α, β, and γ, and is involved in apoptosis regulation and tumor suppression.
Diseases associated with IRF1 include gastric cancer, somatic, and lung cancer.
