Target Information
Staufen homolog 2 (STAU2) is a member of the double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein family involved in mRNA transport and localization to various subcellular compartments. These proteins contain multiple dsRNA-binding domains that interact with RNAs having double-stranded secondary structures. STAU2 shares approximately 48.5% similarity with Drosophila staufen and 59.9% with human staufen. Although its precise function is not fully understood, its conserved dsRNA-binding domains suggest involvement in RNA-binding processes. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
