Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope involving residues 534–546 in cysteine-rich repeat 3 of the CD18 antigen (integrin beta2 subunit; beta2 integrin).
CD18 is a 90–95 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes.
It does not cross-react with canine CD18.
Target Information
CD18 integrin beta 2 subunit is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leucocytes.
It forms heterodimers with CD11a–d molecules to constitute leukocyte (beta2) integrins:
- αLβ2 (CD11a/CD18, LFA-1)
- αMβ2 (CD11b/CD18, Mac-1, CR3)
- αXβ2 (CD11c/CD18)
- αDβ2 (CD11d/CD18)
These integrins are essential for proper leukocyte migration and intercellular adhesion.
Deficiency or defects in CD18 lead to leukocyte adhesion deficiency type I (LAD1) and related immune dysfunctions.
