Target Information
The SOX5 gene encodes a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development and cell fate determination. The encoded protein may function as a transcriptional regulator by forming complexes with other proteins and may play a role in chondrogenesis. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 8, and multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
