Activator protein-2 alpha (AP-2 alpha)는 척추동물 발생과 발암 과정에서 유전자 발현을 조절하는 발달 관련 전사 인자입니다. 이 단백질은 Kruppel-like zinc finger protein 계열에 속하며, AP-2 alpha 유전자의 프로모터 특정 부위에 결합하여 해당 유전자의 발현을 억제할 수 있습니다. 억제 작용에는 corepressor CtBP1과의 결합이 필요합니다. 이 유전자는 서로 다른 두 가지 isoform을 암호화하는 transcript variant를 가집니다.
