MAPRE2 단백질은 adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) 단백질 결합 EB1 유전자 패밀리와 높은 상동성을 보입니다. 기능은 명확히 밝혀지지 않았으나, 대장암의 종양형성과 정상 세포의 증식 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. 또한 TCR 신호전달 경로의 중간/초기 유전자군에 속할 수 있으며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 다양한 전사체 변형이 발생합니다.
