Target Information

This gene encodes a protein that is a component of the NuRD (nucleosome remodeling deacetylase) complex located in the nucleus of human cells. It exhibits broad expression across many tissues and may be part of a small gene family involved in transcriptional regulation, either directly or indirectly through chromatin remodeling.
It is closely related to another family member correlated with metastatic potential in certain carcinomas. Both share similar domains, including DNA-binding, dimerization, and methyltransferase-associated domains. One known target of this gene product is p53, where deacetylation is linked to loss of growth inhibition in transformed cells, suggesting a connection between this gene family and metastasis.
