For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily comprises cysteine protease inhibitors.

• Type 1 (Cystatins A and B): Mainly intracellular.
• Type 2 (Cystatins C, D, E/M, F, G, S, SN, SA): Extracellular.
• Type 3 (Kininogens): Intravascular proteins.

All true cystatins inhibit papain-family cysteine peptidases, such as cathepsins, and some also inhibit legumain enzymes.
Cystatin SA, S, and SN are primarily found in saliva; S and SN are also expressed in tears, urine, and seminal fluid.
Cystatin C is expressed in brain, thymus, ovary, epididymis, and vas deferens.
Cystatin D protects against oral cavity proteinases, while Cystatin E/M and F moderate cathepsin inhibition.
Fetuins, members of the cystatin superfamily, influence osteogenesis, bone resorption, insulin receptor regulation, and systemic inflammation.
High and low molecular weight kininogens inhibit thrombin- and plasmin-induced platelet aggregation.
