Target Information
The ectoderm-neural cortex-1 (ENC-1) protein is an early and highly specific marker of neural induction in vertebrates. It belongs to the kelch family and functions as an actin-binding protein, playing a role in organizing the actin cytoskeleton during neural fate specification and nervous system development. ENC-1 is also required for adipocyte differentiation, facilitating cytoskeletal reorganization and morphological transition from fibroblastic preadipocytes to spherical adipocytes.
