Target Information
MC5R (Melanocortin Receptor 5) mediates the effects of melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), activating adenylate cyclase. This receptor regulates multiple physiological functions including thermoregulation, immunomodulation, appetite control, and sexual behavior. It is expressed in various tissues such as pituitary, exocrine glands, reproductive organs, lung, kidney, and esophagus. No human ESTs have been isolated.
