Target Information
USP7 (also known as HAUSP) is a ubiquitin-specific protease (deubiquitylating enzyme) that cleaves ubiquitin from substrate proteins, thereby stabilizing them. It is known to antagonize Mdm2, an E3 ubiquitin ligase for the tumor suppressor p53. By deubiquitinating p53, HAUSP protects it from degradation and may act as a tumor suppressor. HAUSP also plays roles in oncogenic signaling pathways, potentially providing an alternative mechanism for protecting cells from oncogenic stress.
