Target Information
IA-1 (also known as INSM1) is a zinc-finger transcription factor originally identified from an insulinoma cDNA library and is expressed in the developing nervous system. In mice, IA-1 expression begins as early as E9.5 in the forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, spinal cord, retina, and olfactory bulb. It functions as a transcriptional repressor and participates in signaling pathways such as Notch, sonic hedgehog, and Ngn3 during pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation. IA-1 is also detected in multiple neuroendocrine tumors and nearly all small cell lung carcinomas, suggesting its potential as a cancer therapy target.
