Target Information
EHD1 acts in early endocytic membrane fusion and membrane trafficking of recycling endosomes. It plays a role in myoblast fusion and is recruited to endosomal membranes upon nerve growth factor stimulation, indirectly regulating neurite outgrowth.
EHD1 belongs to a highly conserved gene family encoding EPS15 homology (EH) domain-containing proteins. The EH domain, first noted in EPS15, is important for protein-protein interactions and intracellular sorting.
EHD1 is thought to participate in endocytosis of IGF1 receptors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified for the EHD1 gene.
