Target Information
The 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones is a highly conserved group of proteins that play important physiological roles. Hsp90 is involved in numerous cellular processes and is known for its association with signal transduction machinery.
TRAP1, a homolog of Hsp90, is associated with various proteins involved in diverse cellular actions. Immunofluorescence data show TRAP1 localized in the mitochondria of mammalian cells, suggesting it functions as a mitochondrial matrix protein due to its mitochondrial targeting presequence.
