Target Information
EF-1 (elongation factor-1) is a multi-protein complex responsible for the delivery of aminoacyl-tRNAs to the ribosome.
EF-1 gamma (EEF1G, also known as GIG35) is a 437 amino acid subunit of this complex. It is expressed in multiple tissues including stomach, pancreas, brain, lung, kidney, intestine, liver, and spleen.
EEF1G contains an N-terminal glutathione transferase domain that may anchor the EF-1 complex to cellular components and plays a role in assembling multiprotein complexes with aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases.
Increased expression of EF-1 gamma has been associated with pancreatic cancer, suggesting a potential role in oncogenic transformation.
