Target Information
TCF7L2 (also known as TCF4) is a high mobility group (HMG) box-containing transcription factor involved in the Wnt signaling pathway. It regulates pro-glucagon gene expression, influencing glucose homeostasis and GLP-1 production. Genetic variants of TCF7L2 are associated with type 2 diabetes and play roles in beta-cell survival and function. Differential splicing isoforms of TCF7L2 are expressed during cancer progression, and gene targeting studies show its necessity for maintaining crypt stem cells in the small intestine.
