Target Information
The SEC23A protein is a member of the SEC23 subfamily of the SEC23/SEC24 family. It forms part of a protein complex located on the ribosome-free transitional face of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and associated vesicles. This protein is homologous to yeast Sec23p, a component of COPII, which is responsible for vesicle budding from the ER. The encoded protein plays a role in ER-Golgi protein trafficking.
