Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It plays a role in platelet aggregation and serves as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin.
CD61 (105 kDa) associates with either alpha IIb integrin (CD41) or alpha V integrin (CD51) at the cell surface. It is expressed on platelets, megakaryocytes, endothelial cells, monocytes, and osteoclasts.
CD61 participates in cell adhesion and cell-surface mediated signaling. Dysfunctions are associated with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
