Target Information
HuD, also known as ELAV-like protein 4 or PNEM, is encoded by the human ELAVL4 gene located at 1p34.
HuD is an RNA-binding protein with specificity for uridylate-rich untranslated regions of growth factor mRNAs.
It is expressed exclusively in neurons and stabilizes AU-rich element-containing mRNAs, increasing transcript half-life.
HuD plays a critical role in neuronal development and plasticity.
