Target Information

eIF4A2 is a 407 amino acid ATP-dependent RNA helicase belonging to the DEAD box helicase family. It contains one helicase ATP-binding domain and a helicase C-terminal domain. eIF4A2, a subunit of the eIF4F complex, acts as a protein-synthesis initiation factor and plays an important role in the binding of mRNA to the 43S pre-initiation complex of ribosomes. Human eIF4A2 interacts with the NS5B protein of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and facilitates genomic RNA synthesis by unwinding the secondary structure of the HCV genome. It is ubiquitously expressed in most normal tissues, but in variable amounts.
