Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and are classified as soluble and membrane forms.
Membrane guanylyl cyclases (GC-A through F) are cell-surface receptors with an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a single transmembrane domain, and an intracellular region containing a kinase-like domain and a cyclase catalytic domain.
GC-A and GC-B act as receptors for natriuretic peptides (atrial and brain natriuretic peptides). NPR1 encodes a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase that functions as the receptor for both atrial and brain natriuretic peptides.
