Target Information
Chromosome 20 represents about 2% of human DNA and consists of approximately 63 million bases and 600 genes. It includes regions with genes expressed in the epididymis, important for seminal production and potential targets for male contraception. The PRNP gene, associated with prion diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, is located on chromosome 20. Disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal muscular atrophy, ring chromosome 20 epilepsy syndrome, and Alagille syndrome are also linked to this chromosome.
