Target Information
Canine heartworm is a common parasite of dogs worldwide. It can infect about 30 other species but rarely affects humans. The infection is transmitted by mosquitoes. Adult heartworms can grow up to 10 inches long and live for 5–7 years in dogs, affecting the heart and lungs.
