Target Information
Betatrophin (also known as hepatocellular carcinoma-associated protein TD26) is an adipocyte- and liver-enriched insulin-targeted gene involved in lipid metabolism and regulation of serum triglyceride levels. It is closely related to the angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) protein family.
Betatrophin mRNA levels increase in cold environments and after high-fat diet treatment, while decreasing during fasting, suggesting roles in thermogenesis and energy homeostasis.
