Target Information
CES3 is a major lipase in white adipose tissue, involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and natural substrates. It hydrolyzes triacylglycerols and monoacylglycerols, preferring monoacylglycerols. Substrate susceptibility increases with decreasing acyl chain length of the fatty acid moiety. It also catalyzes the synthesis of fatty acid ethyl esters.
