GAMT (Guanidinoacetate N-methyltransferase)는 구아니디노아세테이트를 크레아틴으로 전환하는 메틸트랜스퍼라아제입니다. 이 과정에서 S-adenosylmethionine이 메틸 공여체로 작용합니다.
GAMT 유전자의 결함은 크레아틴 결핍 및 구아니디노아세테이트 축적으로 인한 신경학적 증후군과 근긴장저하증과 관련이 있습니다.
이 유전자는 두 가지 이소폼을 암호화하는 전사 변이체를 가집니다.
