TAS2R50는 TAS2R 수용체 계열에 속하며, 미각 수용 세포 표면에서 발현되어 G 단백질 연결 신호전달 경로를 통해 쓴맛 인지를 매개합니다. 이 수용체는 쓴맛 인지 및 위장관 내용물의 화학적 조성 감지에 관여할 수 있습니다. TAS2R50의 활성은 α-gustducin을 자극하고 PLC-β2 활성화를 매개하며 TRPM5 개방을 유도할 수 있습니다. 혀의 미각 수용 세포 중 gustducin 양성 세포에서 특이적으로 발현됩니다.
