Target Information
KLC3 encodes a member of the kinesin light chain gene family. Kinesins are molecular motors involved in the transport of cargo along microtubules, composed of two kinesin heavy chains (KHC) and two kinesin light chains (KLC). KLCs are involved in cargo binding and regulation of kinesin activity. In rats, a similar protein is expressed in post-meiotic spermatids, associating with sperm tail and mitochondrial structures.
