Target Information
The ENPP1 gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that forms two identical disulfide-bonded subunits. It exhibits broad substrate specificity, cleaving phosphodiester and pyrophosphate bonds of nucleotides and nucleotide sugars. ENPP1 may hydrolyze nucleoside 5′-triphosphates to monophosphates and diadenosine polyphosphates.
Mutations in ENPP1 are associated with idiopathic infantile arterial calcification, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL), and insulin resistance.
