Target Information
Probable RNA/DNA helicase involved in diverse aspects of RNA metabolism and genomic integrity. Plays a role in transcription regulation by modulating RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) binding to chromatin and interacting with transcription-related proteins (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224). Contributes to mRNA splicing efficiency and splice site selection (PubMed:19515850). Required for resolving R-loop RNA-DNA hybrids at G-rich pause sites downstream of poly(A) sites, enabling XRN2-mediated degradation and efficient RNA polymerase II transcription termination (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224, PubMed:26700805). Involved in circadian rhythm regulation via transcriptional termination of PER1 and CRY2. Participates in DNA double-strand break response under oxidative stress (PubMed:17562789) and targets the RNA exosome complex to transcription-induced DNA damage sites (PubMed:24105744). Essential for germ cell development and male meiosis, contributing to meiotic recombination and gene silencing during MSCI. May regulate telomeric stability through TERRA transcription (PubMed:21112256). Also implicated in neurite outgrowth and inhibition of retinoic acid-induced apoptosis (PubMed:21576111).
