Target Information

Gemtuzumab ozogamicin is a recombinant humanized IgG4 kappa antibody conjugated with a calicheamicin derivative, a cytotoxic antitumor antibiotic isolated from Micromonospora echinospora ssp. calichensis.
Approximately 50% of the antibody is loaded with 4–6 moles of calicheamicin per mole of antibody.
The antibody specifically targets the CD33 antigen present on leukemic myeloblasts in most patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
By binding to the CD33 antigen on tumor cells, the cytotoxic agent inhibits cancer cell growth and induces cell death.
