Target Information
DNA replication, recombination, and repair are essential for genomic stability and require exonucleases. During DNA replication, these enzymes process Okazaki fragments, while in DNA repair they excise damaged DNA and correct mismatches. The DNA polymerase family—including alpha, beta, delta, and epsilon—participates in these processes.
DNA pol delta and epsilon are multisubunit enzymes; delta consists of p125 (interacts with PCNA) and p50 subunits.
DNA pol gamma is responsible for mitochondrial DNA replication.
DNA pol zeta mediates damage-induced mutagenesis across tissues, and DNA pol theta functions as a DNA polymerase-helicase involved in interstrand crosslink repair.
