Target Information

Antizyme inhibitor 2 (AzI2), also known as arginine decarboxylase (ADC), is encoded by the AZIN2 gene.
This enzyme belongs to the antizyme inhibitor family, which regulates cell growth and proliferation by maintaining polyamine homeostasis.
Antizyme inhibitors sequester antizymes to prevent degradation of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), thereby promoting polyamine synthesis and uptake.

AZIN2 is predominantly expressed in the brain and testis, localized in the endoplasmic reticulum–Golgi intermediate compartment, and also found in specific cell types of ovaries, adrenal glands, pancreas, and mast cells.
It is implicated in cell growth, spermiogenesis, vesicular trafficking, and secretion.
