Target Information
This gene is a member of the tetraspanin superfamily and is located in the imprinted gene domain of chromosome 11p15.5, a key tumor-suppressor region. Alterations in this region are associated with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and various cancers including lung, ovarian, and breast cancer. The gene may play roles in malignancies and hematopoietic cell function. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their biological significance remains unclear.
