Vestigial 단백질은 흉부 상상원반 세포가 날개와 균형자를 형성하도록 결정하는 데 관여하며, 다른 핵 내 조절 단백질과 상호 작용할 수 있습니다. Scalloped(sd)와 결합하여 전사 활성 복합체를 형성하고, sd의 DNA 결합 특이성을 전환시킵니다. 날개 상상원반의 배측/복측 경계(D/V boundary)에서 세포 증식에 필요하며, E2f 활성화를 통해 세포 증식을 매개합니다. Dhfr과의 상호작용을 통해 DNA 복제 관련 유전자 조절에 관여할 수 있습니다.
