Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of a small family of proteins that bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS), with conserved motifs RNP1 and RNP2, required for DNA binding. RBMS proteins are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. This protein was isolated by phenotypic complementation of cdc2 and cdc13 yeast mutants and is thought to suppress these mutants through induction of cdc2 translation.
