Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Napsin 1 is an aspartic protease primarily expressed in the lung, and also present in the kidney and various metastatic carcinomas. It processes surfactant protein B in normal pulmonary and renal tissues but becomes dysregulated during carcinogenesis.
Napsin evaluation is useful for identifying several cancers and differentiating primary tumors from metastases. Combined with thyroid transcription factor analysis, it serves as a specific biomarker for carcinoma differentiation. Napsin is also associated with pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and protein catabolism in renal tubules.
