Target Information
CDK8 phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II and is coexpressed and copurified with Cyclin C. CDK8 belongs to a family of cyclin-dependent kinases (cdks) that regulate cell cycle progression. Members such as Cdk2, Cdk4, and Cdk6 play roles in different phases of the cell cycle. Human Cdk8–Cyclin C complex may interact with RNA polymerase, influencing transcription mechanisms related to cell division.
