Target Information
The SLC34A3 gene encodes a member of the SLC34A transporter family, primarily expressed in the kidney. It mediates phosphate transport into cells via sodium cotransport in the renal brush border membrane, maintaining inorganic phosphate concentration. Mutations are linked to hereditary hypophosphatemic rickets with hypercalciuria. Alternatively spliced transcript variants differing in the 5′ UTR have been reported.
