KCNE3는 전압개폐성 칼륨채널 복합체의 보조 단백질로, α-서브유닛과 결합하여 채널 복합체의 개폐 동역학을 조절하고 안정성을 높입니다.
KCNC4/Kv3.4와 결합하여 골격근의 아임계 전압개폐성 칼륨채널을 형성하고, 휴지막 전위(RMP)를 설정하는 데 관여합니다.
또한 KCNQ1/KCLQT1과 결합하여 장내 cAMP-자극 칼륨채널을 형성하며, 염화물 분비에 관여할 수 있습니다.
